Connecting your Google Calendar
Read-only access to your primary Google calendar, connected in about 30 seconds — plus which meetings Revial then joins and prepares for.
This is read-only access to calendar events. Revial can see your meetings but cannot edit, delete or add anything to your calendar. Setup takes less than 2 minutes.
Why connect your calendar?
Once your calendar is connected, Revial can automatically:
- prepare a pre-meeting briefing for your customer meetings
- send the notetaker to your Teams, Google Meet and Zoom meetings — no manual meeting entry
- keep your list of upcoming meetings current
Can't connect a calendar at all? Invite the notetaker email address to meetings instead.
Connect your calendar
About 30 seconds.
- Log in to Revial.
- Go to Profile → Calendar.
- Select Google Calendar.
- Choose your work Google account.
- On Google's consent screen, tick every permission and select Continue.
You are taken to Calendar Settings, and your meetings for the coming days appear within a minute.
If you untick the calendar permission on Google's consent screen, the connection is not saved and you see "Failed to connect calendar". Connect again and leave all permissions ticked.
If you belong to more than one organisation, use Syncs to to choose which organisation the calendar belongs to.
What does Revial request?
| Revial can | Revial cannot |
|---|---|
| See events on your primary calendar — times, titles, descriptions, meeting links | Edit, add or delete events |
| See attendee email addresses | Read your email |
| See your Google account's email address | Access Drive or other Google services |
Only your primary calendar is synced. Events on other calendars you own or subscribe to are not.
What happens after connecting
- Sync. Revial checks your calendar every 15 minutes and looks 7 days ahead. Select Sync Now on the Calendar page to sync straight away. If a new event hasn't appeared after 30 minutes, see calendar connection problems.
- Skipped entries. Private events, out-of-office, focus time and birthdays are never synced. Meetings you've declined are ignored.
- Automation. Connecting turns on meeting automation, unless your organisation has set a different default.
Which meetings Revial joins and prepares for
A meeting gets a notetaker and a briefing when all of these are true:
- Automation is on in Calendar Settings.
- Someone else is invited. Events with only you are skipped.
- It isn't cancelled.
- It is a customer meeting. A meeting where every attendee is internal is skipped, unless your organisation records internal meetings. Your own company domain always counts as internal; add others under Additional Internal Emails & Domains.
- It passes your keywords. Titles and descriptions are checked against your Include and Exclude Keywords.
- It has a meeting link — needed for the notetaker to join, not for the briefing.
Invite the team's notetaker address to a meeting and it is always processed, whatever the rules above say.
You can also turn the notetaker off for one meeting with Disable Bot on the meetings list. See profile setup for the full set of automation settings.
Using Google and Outlook together
You can connect both. Each appears as its own card on the Calendar page, and meetings from both are synced.
Disconnecting
Go to Profile → Calendar and select Disconnect. For that calendar, Revial then:
- removes the synced calendar events
- cancels upcoming meetings and any scheduled notetaker joins
Meetings that have already taken place — recordings, summaries and analysis — are kept.
Disconnecting in Revial doesn't remove Revial from your Google account. To do that too, go to myaccount.google.com/connections and remove Revial.
For Google Workspace administrators
Revial uses Google's standard OAuth consent, so in most organisations each user connects without any admin step.
If users are blocked from connecting, your Workspace may restrict third-party apps. A super admin can allow Revial in the Google Admin console under Security → Access and data control → API controls → Manage third-party app access.
Frequently asked questions
Is this secure? Yes. Revial only requests read access to calendar events. Data is stored on EU servers — see the security FAQ.
Can I choose which calendar to sync? Not currently. Only the primary calendar of the connected account is synced.
The consent screen won't load or keeps looping. Open Revial in a private window with only your work Google account signed in, and connect again.
