Connecting Revial to Odoo

Creating an Odoo API key, connecting your Odoo instance to Revial, and what to do when the connection fails.

Revial connects to Odoo with an API key for one Odoo user. There is no app to install in Odoo. Revial acts as that user, so the user's access rights and record rules decide what Revial can see and change.

For every field Revial reads and writes, see What Revial syncs with Odoo. For the authentication model, API consumption and failure behaviour, see the Odoo technical integration guide.

Overview

  • Meeting briefs — enriched with opportunity, contact and company details from Odoo CRM.
  • Meeting summaries — posted automatically as an internal note in the chatter of the matched opportunity, contact or company.
  • Contact and company matching — meeting participants are linked to Odoo partners.

Revial syncs companies and contacts (partners), opportunities and chatter messages. Leads (unqualified crm.lead records), activities and calendar events are not synced.

Requirements

  • Revial role: Admin or Owner in your organisation.
  • Revial plan: one that includes the CRM integration (Medium or Sales).
  • Odoo: version 16, 17, 18 or 19, reachable over the internet at a public HTTPS address. Instances on private or internal addresses cannot be connected.
  • Odoo user: with access to the CRM app (for example the CRM User role) and to contacts. We recommend a dedicated integration user.
  • No other CRM connected in Revial — Odoo can only be connected on its own.

Step 1 — Create an API key in Odoo

  1. Sign in to Odoo as the user the integration should use.
  2. Open Preferences → Account Security and select New API Key.
  3. Give it a name such as "Revial", confirm your password, and copy the key.

Step 2 — Connect in Revial

  1. In Revial, go to Organization → CRM Integrations and find the Odoo card.
  2. Fill in all four fields:
    • Instance URL — for example https://yourcompany.odoo.com
    • Database name — your Odoo database
    • Login (email) — the Odoo user's login
    • API key — the key from step 1
  3. Click Connect Odoo.

Revial checks the address and signs in to Odoo with these details before saving. The API key is stored encrypted.

Always use an https:// address. Revial accepts http://, but the API key would then travel unencrypted.

Step 3 — Verify the connection

You see "Connected" and the card shows a Connected badge with your instance URL. The first sync starts automatically; after that Revial syncs roughly every hour while Automatic Sync is on in Organization → CRM Settings.

Managing the connection

Changing the key or user — connect again with the new details. Revial replaces the stored credentials and runs a full sync.

Disconnecting — Disconnect on the Odoo card, then confirm. Revial stops syncing and, in the background, deletes its synced copy of your Odoo data, the stored API key and the field mappings. Notes Revial already posted stay in Odoo.

Disconnecting in Revial does not delete the API key in Odoo. To end access, delete the key under Preferences → Account Security in Odoo.

Troubleshooting

MessageWhat to do
"Could not authenticate with Odoo. Check the database name, login, and API key."Check all three; the database name must match exactly
"Could not reach the Odoo instance. Check the URL and try again."Check the address is correct and reachable from the internet
"That Odoo instance URL is not allowed."The address points to a private or internal network — use a public address
"instance_url must be a valid URL"Enter a full address such as https://yourcompany.odoo.com
"Team already has an active CRM connection. Disconnect it first."Disconnect the other CRM first — Odoo cannot be connected alongside another CRM
"You must be a team admin or owner to connect a CRM"Ask a Revial admin or owner to connect
"Failed to connect to Odoo"Try again; contact support if it repeats
Data stopped updatingThe API key may have been deleted or the user deactivated — Revial does not currently notify you. Connect again with a new key
